about
‘Big Talk sprung from a chat with a friend about a relationship which was not unpleasant but also not progressing. The friend said you need a big talk, to clear the air, and make things understood on both sides. But a big talk can be hard. Scary even. Is there a way to have one that works for both involved? Has it even happened yet? Do you mind if we have a big talk?’
Originally commissioned for the Projections Commissions 2019, in which four artists a year are commissioned to make new work to be screened before mainstream feature films at Tyneside Cinema in Newcastle and partner cinemas across the UK, the video for ‘Big Talk’ undertakes a colour-saturated journey for a humorous yet sincere reflection on human relationships, personal expression and how we come together to watch, speak and act.
We need a big talk, it's time
Wait
Wait
When you get home
We need a big talk
So we know
Talking
Work it out
Can we
Can we, work it out?
So we know
So we know
The future
So we know about, the future
The future
Do you know, about the future?
It's time
It. is. time
Now
Do we need one
Big Talk
Big Talk
Big Talk
Big Talk
We'll have a x 8
We might have a
We will have a
They will have a
It's ok we'll have a
Do we need a
Do we need a
It's time for a
It's time for a
Big Talk
Big Talk
Big Talk
Big Talk
Does this work
Will it work
Sit down
Eye. to. eye
Sit down
A neutral space
Somewhere where you both feel comfortable
Non threatening
A safe space
Get it out
Just let it out
Be open
Try to be honest
Try. To Be. Honest
Big Talk
Big Talk
Big Talk
Big Talk
We'll have a -
We might have a
We will have a
they will have a
It's ok you'll have a
Do we need a
Do we need a
It's time for a
It's time for a
Is it better to talk about it
Or is it better just to say nothing?
Is it all in your. mind
Is it all in your mind
Is it allllll in your mind
Do you mind?
Do you mind?
Do you mind if we have a big talk?
Do you mind?
